Humayun Ahmed |
As the virtuoso's 7th centenary of mortality lists today, we
will glance at some of his pieces that he has abandoned behind, through which
he remains to reside in his admirers ' brains.
Ba-ker Bhai: In Humayun Ahmed's Kothao Keu Nei, Ba-ker Bhai
was one of the most fascinating personalities in the past of Bangla TV series.
With such a mood on-screen, Asaduzzaman Noor gave the impression that when his
protagonist Ba-ker Bhai was convicted to murder in the TV series, spectators
went to the roads to rally. Never before in Bangladesh, did the audience react
in a manner so factual, for a character so fictitious. Ba-ker Bhai, who made
his debut in the 1990s, is still a fan-favorite to this day.
Himu: Although his depiction is restricted in tele-fictions,
in many of Humayun Ahmed's books the existence of Himu prevails. A vagabond
wearing a white pocketless Panjabi and walking barefoot, Himu created a cult
following that was experienced by Humayun Ahmed during his lifetime. Like Himu,
the same feeling of fashion and faith is maintained by his supporters.
Misir Ali: Humayun Ahmed's other prominent personality is
Misir Ali. This personality was focused on several tele-fictions and a film. A
part-time professor of Psychology at a university, Misir Ali has an intriguing
persona and has a knack for solving mysteries. Various renowned actors like
Abul Hayat, the late Abul Khair and most recently, Chanchal Chowdhury,
portrayed the role of Misir Ali.
Shuvro: Shuvro is also one of the famous personalities of
Humayun Ahmed. In essence, rather simplistic, the gaze of Shuvro is his
spectacles, for without them he considers nothing. Despite being naive, Shuvro
is featured in several novels and is a favorite amongst the young readers. The
film Daruchini Dip, helmed by Tauquir Ahmed, was about Shuvro, portrayed by
actor Riaz. The film was well-received by the audience.
Mofiz: In the tell fiction arena, Mofiz is a famous title.
He seemed to have the promise of gaining the approval of the people whatever
craft Humayun Ahmed went into. For the TV series Shobuj Chhata, performed by
Zahid Hasan, he launched the personality Mofiz as a playwright.
Mirza: Mirza is well known to those who are acquainted with
Humayun Ahmed's Ayomoy. Mirza was marvelously portrayed as a rather
serious-natured personality by the gifted actress, Asaduzzaman Noor.
