The span was planned to be placed between the bridge pillars 15 and 16 at Mawa end in Munshiganj today but could not be installed owing to negative weather, a Padma Bridge construction engineer said All Bangla Newspaper.

The span of gray 3C color is 150 meters long, weighing 3,140 tons.

2.100 meters (2.1 kilometers) of the highly hyped bridge will be noticeable after the installation of the 14th span.

The 3,600-ton Tian E crane carrying the 150-meter long span from Mawa Construction Yard of Munshiganj was anchored in the center of the Padma River, according to the bridge authority involved.

The bridge authority twice (Thursday and Friday) altered the installation timetable of the span owing to inclement weather and excessive silt deposit next to the pillars.

They have already recognized the siltation place and began the dredging job and the engineer added that it will take time until Saturday morning (June 29).

The 13th span (superstructure) of the 6.15-kilometer Padma Bridge was mounted at the Mawa point between 14 and 15 number pillars earlier on May 25, making 1950 meters visible from the bridge.

In addition, the bridge's fifth span was mounted at Shariatpur's Jajira point on March 22, while the Padma Bridge's eighth span of 6.15 km was installed on February 20.

Ten spans have been put at Jajira point so far and two spans have been positioned at Munshiganj bridge point. Each of the spans is 150 meters long.

On September 30th, 2017, the bridge's first span was placed on pillars 37 and 38.

To build the 6.15-km long-awaited Padma Bridge, a total of 41 spans (superstructure) will be mounted on the 42 pillars. On six spans at the Jajira end, railway slabs and highway slabs are being mounted.

On January 28, 2018, the second span was put. On March 11 of the same year, the third span was set while the fourth was positioned on May 13 and the fifth span was mounted on June 29 of the same year. On January 23, 2019, the sixth span was mounted.
